In discussing wooden floors, we have revisited their history with you and described the various possible styles and installation methods; the patterns and the varieties of wood or color used. However, we had not yet addressed the topic of formats, that is, the actual dimensions of the parquet, always expressed in millimeters and in order of length, width, and thickness. Each size corresponds to a name that may vary from one supplier to another. At Woodco, in reference to our prefinished parquet, we refer to strip, slat, plank, and maxi-plank, in order of size.
We will see that installation techniques also change based on the size and type of product: for some, especially the smaller ones, glued installation is recommended, while for the larger ones, floating installation is also possible. As always, the choice of format depends on each person’s personal taste and the characteristics of the space to be furnished. Generally speaking, larger planks tend to visually shrink spaces, while smaller ones give them more room to breathe. However, if the spaces available to you are particularly large, then choosing a maxi-plank can undoubtedly be the most appropriate and effective choice.
Slat Signature Collection
Strip and slat: characteristics and installation guidelines
The strip is the variant of parquet with smaller length and width. It is typically made in two layers and, to ensure complete stability, it is installed with glued installation. Only the Dream collection by Woodco includes several models of strip, in oak, and natural doussie, with a birch plywood backing and a total thickness of 10 mm. You can find it in lengths ranging from a minimum of 420/700 mm to a maximum of 600/1200 mm and in widths from 70 to 90 mm.

Woodco: the queen of the plank
Suitable for both floating installation, if three-layered, and glued installation, plank and maxi-plank clearly feature greater thicknesses, lengths, and widths.
You will also find the plank format in the Dream collection with Plank2 and Plank3 and again, in the Signature catalog, where walnut and oak planks stand out, all three-layered, ranging from a minimum of 140 to a maximum of 200 mm in width and lengths up to 2,400 mm.
Dream Maxi-Plank Must
Maxi-format parquet
Finally, the Must model is the maxi-plank of the Dream collection characterized by a length that reaches up to 2500 mm, but where the width really makes the difference as it reaches a full 350 millimeters. And 350 millimeters is also the width of the maxi-plank of the Signature collection, made of three layers of oak, with a maximum length varying from 1,500 to 2,500 mm.
