First of all, don’t call it recycling. Recycling parquet is an upcycling operation that allows you to give your wooden floor a true second life and a new purpose, in a simple and fun way.
How? For example, you can transform parquet boards into original country-style shelves by drilling two holes on the shorter sides and threading a sufficiently strong rope through them, then securely fastening it to a wall nail. Equally easy is creating frames or mirrors, as in this case, you only need to cut and shape the boards to the desired size; then glue them together.
Creativity on the Table
Alternatively, you can glue the boards to a wall panel following the pattern and design you prefer, thus creating an elegant headboard for the bed. Similarly, you can use the parquet to turn it into a wall covering, giving the walls of your home the typical warmth of this material. Another example of creative reuse is applying the wooden floorboards, properly cleaned and treated, perhaps repainted, on an old table, thus restoring its full appeal: call it, if you like, shabby-chic style.
Let’s move to the bathroom: the bathtub is synonymous with relaxation and rest but… where to place a book, a steaming cup of herbal tea, or – why not? – a drink, to enhance these moments of total comfort?
Parquet boards are the answer, as they can transform into a practical table to rest on the edges of the bathtub. Once you step out, you can place your feet on the wooden mat, very similar to that of a Northern European sauna, also made by shaping the old parquet boards.
