How to choose the color of parquet based on the walls

To match the color of the parquet based on the walls of your home, you must undoubtedly consider both the size and the structure of the residence.

Wood flooring and its shades prove to be an extremely versatile and flexible solution. Parquet, in fact, adapts to country-style residences with the same ease as it fits into more modern apartments.

And the color combinations that the various essences allow you to achieve are numerous.

Light or dark-colored parquet: when and why

The key concept is: contrast.

If the dominant shades, between furnishings and walls, are dark, then the best effect for decorating your home is to choose light parquet that can add a touch of brightness to the rooms.

Gray, ivory, and beige are all recommended options in this case, creating visual effects that make each space appear more airy and spacious: they are therefore ideal for smaller homes.

Conversely, if walls and furniture, sofas and cushions—not to mention the fixtures—already tend towards colors like cream and ivory, or even ivory, we recommend laying a parquet with a strong presence: in walnut or oak, like Signature which, just to name a few examples, offers dark colors such as Veste di Monaco, Notte, Tannino, or Terra d’Ombra.

White walls and light parquet: yes, the combination is possible

The color contrast between walls and parquet does not necessarily have to be so pronounced.

For example, you can decide to echo the dark shade of the parquet on the walls, adding a slight hint of red to the color.

That said, the total white style is far from a gamble: in fact, it is timeless, and choosing white for the painting of home or office walls goes beyond current trends. If this is your case, if the walls of the space you are decorating are painted in light or white tones, you can add a touch of brightness and Scandinavian airiness with a floor in soft hues.

Light gray parquet, like dove gray or cream, all currently very popular, may suit your needs, and the same can be said for the naturalness of natural oak.

Each room its own style: parquet and walls in bold colors

There is room and room, however, and while for an entrance, a hallway, or other shared spaces it is always advisable to moderate contrasts or maintain a certain uniformity, bedrooms are a case apart.

And here, you can choose to pair the parquet, especially if light, with more ambitious and original colors: pink, blue, even a more pronounced blue. Furthermore, you can opt for painting just one wall in bright colors or even more by using another shade of parquet as a covering, thus effectively playing with contrasts again.

Another aspect we recommend considering is the natural brightness of your spaces. That is: a north-facing room tends to receive cooler light, which a dark wood floor can help warm up.

Oak parquet: versatility is its middle name

As we have already described in another article, a detail to always keep an eye on is the combination between the parquet and the furniture, including baseboards.

Certainly, the austere dark shades of some essences go very well with classic taste, but you must also consider that dark tones tend to give the impression of a smaller space than it actually is. An optimal solution for versatility and adaptability is represented by Oak, well-present in Woodco’s collections. It also looks great when installed in bathrooms or kitchens.

A parquet essence for every environment

In general parquet colors are divided into reds, light, dark, brown.

Among the first, particularly elegant, are merbau and Doussiè Africa. Light wood floors, American maple with its beige; beech with its pinkish tones; oak, whose straw yellow darkens over the years and is present in our Dream and Signature ranges.

In more modern environments, dark shades like walnut, or teak, which you can find in the Dream series, are increasingly in demand, and they are suitable for bathrooms and kitchens because they are very resistant to humidity.
