Valuable, elegant, and durable, oak is one of the most commonly used and appreciated woods in parquet production. Oak is available in two main families: French oak and Slavonian oak<\/strong>. Both have specific characteristics, uses, and prerogatives. <\/p>\n

French Oak Parquet: Characteristics<\/h2>\n

Let’s start with French oak. It is derived from a tree with particularly long and imposing branches<\/strong>, widespread and cultivated in forests in the transalpine regions of Allier, Nevers, Aquitaine, Limousin, and the Vosges department. This variety is therefore suitable for creating rustic and aged parquet<\/strong> that stands out for the movement of its grain and broader flame pattern. It has warm colors and hazelnut shades<\/strong> that make it ideal for natural finishes. French oak is called “fine-grained<\/strong>” due to the dense arrangement of the tree’s growth rings. <\/p>\n

Slavonian Oak Parquet: A First Choice<\/h2>\n

On the other hand, Slavonian oak is defined as “coarse-grained wood<\/strong>“, lighter and more elegant<\/strong>, and for this reason recommended for first choices<\/strong>. It originates from Slavonia, a geographical region in eastern Croatia<\/strong>, consisting of fertile plains, watered by large rivers like the Drava<\/strong> and the Danube<\/strong>. It is derived from slender trees, but with smaller branches. It is particularly suitable for creating wooden floors with straighter grain and smaller knots<\/strong> and is considered by many to be the true king of wood for parquet<\/strong>. It is a versatile material that adapts to various formats and installation types such as Hungarian<\/strong> or Italian herringbone<\/strong> and French herringbone patterns. <\/p>\n
