In addition to horizontal and vertical installation<\/a><\/strong>, wooden floors allow for an infinite variety of patterns and designs, including Italian, French, and Hungarian herringbone installation<\/strong>.
\n Depending on the cut of the boards and, of course, based on your tastes and the style you want to give your environment, the parquet can be laid in a pattern reminiscent of a herringbone<\/strong>. There are three main variants of herringbone parquet: French, Hungarian, and Italian.
\n Keep in mind that while running, horizontal, and vertical installation can also be done with boards of different lengths, in the case of herringbone, the strips must all be the same size. Moreover, herringbone installation always requires the boards to be glued to the subfloor<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Hungarian and French herringbone: the secret is in the angles<\/h2>\n

In general, herringbone installation involves laying the boards at an angle to each other, in such a way as to reproduce the typical herringbone<\/em> pattern<\/strong>, resembling fishbones.
\nWe will return to the Italian herringbone<\/strong> in more detail in the next paragraph: for now, let’s anticipate that the boards that compose it are all perfectly rectangular<\/strong>, without the cuts and bevels at the corners that distinguish the French and Hungarian herringbones.<\/p>\n

The peculiarity of the Hungarian herringbone<\/strong> is that it features an angle between the contact parts of one board and another that can vary between 45 and 60\u00b0<\/strong>. The Hungarian herringbones we offer in our collections are indeed at 52\u00b0.<\/strong> Once laid, its design will have a classic arrow shape, but wider<\/strong> compared to the French herringbone. <\/p>\n

The cradle of parquet, as we have already seen in the post on the history of wooden floors<\/a><\/strong>, France gave rise to compositions that are in turn very widespread and popular, including the French herringbone. The latter differs from others due to the regular 45-degree oblique cut<\/strong> and also because, especially in recent times, its width has been expanded and now reaches more than double the traditional width. <\/p>\n
